Conditions of participation

Before you sign the registration form of the European Diving School (EDS), you the participant has to recognise several conditions.

Since stress and moderate exercise is often a part of recreational diving, individuals with the following illnesses should not participate:
Persons with a history of cardiac disease, high blood pressure, circulatory or respiratory difficulties, asthma, persons with epilepsy, tuberculosis, haemophilia, glaucoma, sinusitis and kidney or gallbladder stones.

The participant declares that he does not suffer from any of the above listed illnesses and is not aware of having others which could lead to an impairment of his health when he takes part in recreational diving. Furthermore, addiction to drugs, or medications, restricts him from diving. As well as alcohol consumption 12 hours before diving.

The medical examination confirming the fitness to dive should not be older than 11 months (French law).

The safety of recreational diving can only be guaranteed when the equipment is working properly. Our equipment is regularly, accurately verified by the EDS. This however, does not relieve the participant of the responsibility for checking his equipment before each dive, to assure that it's working properly.
The participant may only use his own equipment when it meets up to the European CE-Norm. He is responsible for all damages which may result if his own equipment does not work properly. Mixtures with a higher percentage than 21% of O2 will only be filled in NITROX or O2 stamped bottles. The participant is advised to be covered by an third-party insurance policy. In case he hasn't got one it is possible to take out an insurance here for 10,-€ fee. We recommend as well an diving accident insurance.

During the dives, the participant must follow all the instructions given by the instructor. Offence results in the immediate exclusion from the dives. It is basically forbidden to dive alone! The participants are required to stay within sight of each other at all times; dives and ascents are always done together and diving buddies should only separate once they are on board or at the starting position of the dive. You have to inform your dive leader clearly when you reach the pressure of 100, 80 and 50bar. Dives leaded by instructors of the EDS are always accomplished as no decompression dives. Decompression dives can be done in own responsibility and never with a dive instructor or under instruction of the EDS.

The maximum diving time of recreational diving is 58 minutes. The reversal pressure of recreational dives to 29 meters is 80bar. As soon as it goes deeper (30 meters) it is 100 bar.
Anyone who takes part in an excursion or reserves an excursion must pay for it in full, even if they do not dive for any reason (seasickness, no pressure equalisation, etc.) or do not turn up. It may happen that an originally planned diving area is not visited, but another one (depending on the weather conditions and/or the level of the divers).
It is possible that we are not going to the originally scheduled diving site but to another one pursuant to the weather and/or level of the divers.

The EDS and the diving instructors and/or his assistant are only responsible for damages which are the result of his/her deliberately or grossly negligent manner. Also, losses, damages or burglary of diving equipment which is on board or in the diving base is not the liability of the EDS. The user of lent equipment is responsible for all lent material (in case of lost or damage).

Found property under water or on the surface cannot be kept and considered as your own!! They have to be given back to a responsible person of the EDS.

We are on French soil, so the French diving law also applies.
The French diving law can be consulted at the EDS office. Diving depths: 1* to 20m, 2* to 40m, 3* to 60m and only 3* or higher can lead a group and/or lower certified divers in their depth ranges.
PADI/SSI or other divers dive in no-decompression time. OWD max 18m, with higher licences up to max 40m. For dives deeper than 30m the Deep Diver speciality is strongly recommended. If you want to dive deeper than 40m you need 3* CMAS or deeper than 60m, a 3* CMAS and a TRIMIX certification which allows this (deeper 60m). Possible diving depths must be clarified in advance with the respective diving centre. Especially if you want to dive deeper than 20 metres!

Photos or films are constantly being taken in which you may be seen. These can be used by the EDS for advertising purposes without further notice and without payment. In addition, your data will be collected for diving school purposes, processing of enquiries, classification of divers according to diving level, newsletters, enquiries, ... These will not be passed on to third parties under any circumstances.
